Inspection and Testing

Capturing data which enables informed decision making

Access to data is paramount to understanding the performance and integrity of critical items of subsea equipment. Many different forms of inspection and testing are used to gather the necessary data regarding the condition of subsea assets.

A60N offers both subsea inspection management services and can supply offshore inspection personnel, software and hardware. We also provide flexible riser annulus testing services.

Materials testing also forms a key component of dealing with complex issues which may arise in a variety of unique subsea operational situations. We provide laboratory and offshore testing services (see STAR Labs) and customised tests to meet client needs. We also have a strong track record of collaboration with WA’s leading universities and management of testing at commercial laboratories.

Flexible Riser Annulus Testing

A flexible riser annulus testing campaign was performed for a client in South East Asia. The work included:

  • Review of two previous riser annulus test reports with conflicting conclusions

  • Development of a test procedure

  • Client meetings and discussions regarding riser design, installation and test histories

  • Offshore testing campaign including a vacuum and positive pressure testing

  • Report of findings

Subsea Inspection

An offshore campaign was supported for a client in the Bass Strait. The work included:

  • Provision of:

    • Subsea engineers;

    • 3.4U inspectors; and

    • CP technician and equipment.

  • Inspection of pipelines, structures and subsea systems

  • CP Reporting

Material Compatibility Testing

A series of tests were developed for a client to ascertain the effect on various polymer connector materials subjected to acid used for the removal of calcareous deposits. The work included:

  • Test program design

  • Disassembly of components to source various polymers materials

  • Acid compatibility testing at a series of exposure durations, inc. hardness, tensile, volume change tests

  • Electrical insulation resistance (IR) testing in a partially separated connector state when exposed to acid

  • Test reporting
